Has Ruger discontinued this chambering in all their guns?

Supposedly Ruger is coming out with the 480 again.

Maybe they'll give us a polymer framed double barrel derringer weighing 12 ounces. That would be right in line with their thinking with a new leverevolution load in the 480 to go with it that would be flat to 200 yards.

Super Redhawk six-shot 480 Rugers are being assembled. I write "assembled" rather than manufactured because there is a reasonable likelihood that Ruger located sufficient inventoried SRH 480-specific parts to complete revolvers being assembled. When these are exhausted, we'll know whether they are the last. How many in this assembly run? Dunno.

or sawing of a dammed 1022 and calling it a charger and selling it for more then a 1022

Ruger went to a 5-shot cylinder, in the 480, about two years ago. They made them for another year or so then they dropped out of the distributor's listings. I just got a Spring flyer from Jerry's Sports and they are listed again on a special order basis.

When the 480 went 5-shot, I called Ruger to try to get the skinny on why, as I have one of the first 6-shot ones. They were pretty tight-lipped about it, but said I shouldn't be concerned with my gun's strength. From what I gleaned, it had to do with sticky extraction on new Hornady ammo. I've never fired factory stuff in mine, but did have problems with new Hornady cases and full velocity loads. IMO, Hornady brass is too soft. After one or two firings, the problem disappears as the brass work hardens a bit.

My first .480 SRH was roll stamped .475 Ruger and the first fifty rounds I put through it were headstamped .475 Ruger. The revolver went back to the factory for a horrible inaccuracy problem and the replacement was marked .480 Ruger. I still have the fifty empty .475 Ruger cases though. :)

How do those Ruger cases compare to 475 Linebaugh?

The .480 is a .475 special. I believe it's 1/10 of an inch shorter.

Ruger should make one of those calibers in a 5 shot Bisley.

I think the Ruger .480 has the same or similar case length as the .44 .41 .357 and 327 magnums as well as the .30 carbine. Something I noticed as I slowly memorized Hogdon's 2009 loading manual. Makes me think that from a production standpoint it should be hanging around.

Maybe they will bring out a .50 caliber round with that length I would think there would be enough meat left for a 5 shot SRH. Of course I would like to see how many .30 carbine holes could be drilled into a SRH.
