I have an unopened 5 pound can of this powder that I plan on loading .45 Colt with 255 gr RFN bullets. What data I've found is Start 7.0 and Max 8.6. Anyone have experience with this powder in this caliber?

I don’t, but I also have near 5 lbs I been holding for a long time… so I will be watching

Can’t say about the 45 Colt. But 8.1 gr is my favorite load in my Colt SAA in 44 Special with 429421’s.

Propellant Profiles lists up to 12.5 gr SR-4756 behind the 255gr boolit in .45 Colt. I stay around 10.2gr for my Cimarron SA in .45 Colt, and the load seems to do well in an original SA and a S&W 25 as well.

I was given several pounds of SR-4756 and SR-7625. I've had good results from both of them in big bore revolver cartridges; 44-40, 45 Colt and 44 Spl. with their standard weight bullets.

It is my favorite powder for medium loads in 357, 44, 9mm. Also great for 20 and 28 ga skeet loads and 12 ga 1 1/4 field loads. I'll miss it when it's gone

It has been years since I loaded 7625 and 4756 in .45 Colt, but the 4756 loads had a sharper recoil impulse than the 7625, so I would not make any 4756 load hotter than truly necessary.

I'll bet someone would trade you primers for that. Production ended a few years ago and not for lack of demand. Excellent single base medium pistol powder.
