Does anyone get perfect boolits out of this mold? Been casting some really nice ones with the exception of the tip of the HP. I have a 452 HP mold that fills in nicely but the 356 has a thinner longer cavity to fill. Not much lead in the cross section. My molds hot, extra tin, extra heat. I'm only talking about 15 thou at the tip but curious if anyone get 100% fill on these.

Yes, I do. My alloy is Lyman #2 and my Mag25 temp indicates 690 degrees. I have the 4 cavity in brass. I preheat the mold on a hot plate. The first couple of pours might be frosted because of high mold temp then it settles down nicely. It did take a while figuring out what the mold wanted in its temperature, lead temperature and distance from nozzle. Ever since it’s been pretty smooth sailing.

I have that mold and run my Pro Melt 2 about 700. I preheat on a hotplate with a 6x6 1/4" steel plate that gets the pins hot too. I make about 2 casts a minute with a 4 cavity mold. I go for a light frost and sharply defined features rather than a shiny boolit.

^What he said. I cast slightly faster than Mal Paso, but I want a slightly frosted boolit and I run my melt at ~725+.

I do you need those pins really hot to get good fill out. I’ve only used the penta pins on mine though

If you haven't already ... Try Pressure Casting and don't forget to hold your mouth right .

Preheat well on a hot plate.
Alloy must be hotter then usual - I set on 425 C.
Pour, sprue must be one big piece. Freeze. Wait Second or two. Cut. Tap tap on a handle hinge.
FLIP mould 180 degrees, tap tap again, push the pins or let the tapping do the work.
Repeat and don’t stop, keep your cadence - it will keep pins hot.
Good luck
