yes but you have to take the bolt out of the gun every shot not the most fun get a long action works better and more fun faster to reload too!!! have fun clint

.308, 300 RCM, 300 WSM, 300 SAUM all come to mind if you're looking for a short action 30-06

AMU even used them in 300 win, but they pulled the bolt to eject the fired cases :-).

Thanks everyone, Long action it is because I tend to like the fired cases to eject vs. removing the bolt after every shot.LOL. I was asking because my one friend offered me(For free!) a choice of the 2 and I want to build a custom 06 just for CB's.
I need some ideas for a barrel(Was thinking Shilene or Douglas) so if anyone has any suggestions or if you have a favorite you shoot with cast I would appreciate any input. Im going to shoot this from 250yds and under with 311291's and 311467's at around 1600fps. Thanks in advance.

For free Mike I would really consider a 308, 358 or something else on that case base. It is too good to pass up.

I already have 2- 700's in .308 but none in 30-06 but im open to a .358 and will check it out. Never messed with any calibers like that and it may be interesting to see what it will do. Thanks.
