What is the ideal 321232 mold with no lube grooves? Anyone know about this? Saw this for sale and thought something different.

Traditionally a 321 would be for American 32 cal rifles . Without grooves it was probably used for an 8mm paper patch bullet where there was a groove dia of .326-.328 .

The 321232 should have a thick base band and a bunch of grease grooves up the side. Maybe somebody ran an 8mm reamer into it and cut all the grooves out of the cavity.

Such “customizing”/vandalism/butchery is not uncommon in the world of used moulds. If I bought one like that, it would have to be in very good condition otherwise, and very cheep.

I see seven .321 moulds on the Lyman chart . 321232 is listed as 170 gr. , plain base , has a flat point and would be used in a 32 cal rifle . No grease grooves would indicate a paper patch was to be used .
No ...powder coating hadn't been invented yet ...paper patching was the coating of that day !
I can find this bullet used in data for 32-40 Winchester and 32 Winchester Special , both could be chambered in Winchester Lever Actions ...possibly why the flat point .
When paper patched this boolit could be used in 8mm bores ... 8 X 57 Mauser

Without grease grooves it is an odd duck ... might be just the thing for a powder coating
