Kinda looking for advice on the possibility of a dedicated paper patching mold for a .25-06. Frankly I've never heard of one and would not know how to analysis pros & cons of design features. Anybody have thoughts on this subject?

You'll need something to cast .250-.252 100-115 gr , 120 if your 25 will shoot them .

It's pretty much a custom deal unless you happen into a fat 6mm mould .

I've run paper patch in a host of rifles and calibers and the successes of some have been a surprise as to what worked that otherwise hasn't for me . I patched up the 266469 for a .270 6.5 Japanese . I've never been able to get a Loverne bullet to shoot in anything but that one is probably where I'm going to go .
A 308291U also worked out in Nominal 30 cal when sized .301 .

So a .247ish 6mm bullet might Beagle just fine or be a place to start .
I guess if you really want to go fast a heavy 25 cal pistol mould would work too .
Of course you can always size a a rifle bullet down . A PC slick mould might be a thing to be sized and knerled but that kind of defeats the PC intent .......

Dabble a little with alloy if you have a slow twist like the old Savage many of the 85-100 gr bullets should go well into the 22-2300 fps range with a useful bullet soft enough to mushroom and tough enough to stay in one gob .

That certainly is going to be a worthy challenge if you choose to accept it.

With the dearth of bullets that may be coming, I just want to start thinking about a possibility. First thing I really need to do is slug my barrel. Had a general impression of a 110 / 120 grain bullet, but that's really just spitting into the wind, at this point.

After you get slugged and figure out what you need for dia's Ammohead has been very helpful with odd dia sizers .

I'm making good progress with NOEs 260-120 just lubed and checked in a 25-06' . In keeping a serviceable game bullet it's going to take considerable effort to get to a full power load but not so much to get a satisfying 250 Savage or 25 Rem type load . A 22-2300 fps 120 is good enough for jacketed 7-30 it should be good to go in a 257 .

Hareter66 - Interested in your observations with the NOE 260-120. Will keep ammohead in mind if I come to that. I've had the thought the .25-06 is too small a bore for cast, but just think the chase would be fun. I'd love to go for wild bore with this in cast.
