One of my bucket list rifles has always been a M1910 in 280 Ross.
Why?? They were innovative on so many fronts when they were designed and produced.
I found and purchased a unmolested beauty the other day and now I'm in the process of loading ammo for it which hasn't been produced in the US since the 1930's.
I have the dies and brass covered, but bullets are an issue. The Woodleigh .287" bullets are the go to choice, but with the fire they are a year or more out for delivery.
I could order a .288" NOE mold and custom lube die, but I was also wondering if I could PC .284" jacketed bullets to get them closer to the bore diameter of the rifle.
Am I crazy, or is it worth a try?

2 applications of a good PC should get you between .003 and .004 increase in dia..

Some PC colors will go on thicker than others ..
OD Green and Signal blue are good colors for this .. Stay away from bright colors like white, yellow or oranges

Personally I would recommend you try theOD Green. It coats excellent. Nice a thick and an even opaque color. Should do very well for your application

What’s the best process to apply 2 coats? Cook first coat, air cool, shake again, cook, and then water drop?

Do you wash them between coats? Water, acetone?

do first batch as normal.. let bullets air cool then repeat.
No need to wash between coats unless you bare hand them or they get contaminated somehow...
It is essential that your oven be at an actual 400 degrees .. especially if double coating .. leave the bullets in the heat a little longer on the 2nd batch as well

First batch of 25x 150 gr. jacketed powder coated bullets in the oven.
Used steel BBs in a Thumbler tumbler for 3 minutes to apply OD green.
Placed the bullets on a piece of 1/4" aluminum plate with Parchment paper.
Started with a cold oven and started a 40 minute timer once the oven temp reached 375F.
It's cycling now between 396F on and 408F off based on my low mass thermocouple gauge.

After 2 coats the 25 bullet test batch bullets measure .2875".
Now I just need to wait until Wednesday for the dies to arrive.

Interested to see how these shoot at full velocity and if the PC eliminates copper fouling.

The only difference I would add would be to do the first coat with a partial cure. Stop the cooking after the powder flows and before the oven reaches 300°. Then do a full cure on the second coat. This cure method allows the two coats to bond as one.

I do a double coat on all PC rifle bullets to create a thicker jacket.

I've done a couple batches of double coated rifle bullets with OD green processed at 400F for both cycles. After the first cycle the coating looks even, but I'm seeing some coating sag on the double coated bullets. I'm going to try a double coated batch with Carolina Blue and see what happens. If I still see sagging, I'm going to try lowering the temperature of the second coat and extend the baking time.
Any other suggestions? I'm not needing or expecting benchrest accuracy from these bullets. give the open sights of the rifle and my aged eyes.
