Chance to buy a Vortex Razor HD 20-60X85 angled spotting scope.

I have the chance to get a Vortex Razor HD 20-60X85 angled spotting scope for a very reasonable price.
I have not been able to look through it yet. It is new in the box but about 5 years old.
I have used Vortex rifle scopes but know little of their spotting scopes.
For my usage, is for spotting bullet holes in paper out to 600 yards.
Any experiences or feedback anyone has with this model would be appreciated.

I had the exact model for years, excellent product with good glass and smooth focus. Only downside is the weight of the scope for the quality of the optics.

I’ve found that spotting scopes don’t help me much, depending on the temperature and distance. The mirage is the biggest offender followed by my “is that a hole” statements. For shooting any distance beyond 200 yards I would opt for a down range camera.

I have a Unertl Team Scope and a very good Kowa 20-60 zoom - You aren't seeing bullet holes at that range. At 200 yards, depending on conditions, it can be a challenge. If the lighting is just right, and there is good contrast between the bullet hole and the background, sometimes you can pick them out at a good distance, but usually you are looking for a black bullet hole on a black target with mirage, etc. I have not used downrange cameras, but from what I have seen, they look like the real solution to the problem.

I should note that I do not use regular paper targets for much beyond 200 yards for the aforementioned reasons. The splatter type are quite nice for extended ranges to a point - depending on conditions. I don't have a target cam but set up one of our phones with the camera on the target and stream it back to the shooter.
Most of what I use my spotting scope for is for game spotting.

I've got a Vortex spotting scope and when there is no mirage & enough light, I can read the 300 yard target.

Also... most of my post - 500 yard fun is with painted steel. I made a sort of stencil for spray painting the target with black then white paint.
1) the sound
2) not hard to see that splatter from quite a ways

Had the opportunity to shoot on electronic targets a couple of times. Thats interesting. In smallbore and International Air Rifle, it actually scores your 10's to a decimal point so the best shot would be a 10.9 Sometimes these matches are decided by a tenth of a point across 120 shots in 3 positions. Not much margin for error.

If you look on Youtube, there are a number of videos from smallbore and air rifle world championships showing the events and the digital scoring. One club here has put them in on their HiPower range but I haven't shot on them yet. All you need your scope for now is watching mirage.

I think she is going to want more than I can pay for it.
