Anybody ever tried the conversion kits for a Witness P? The 9mm shoots great but I want to convert to 40 S&W. I guess my question is whether the Poly frame will handle a 40 or 45. And a cheap source for the kit. Joe

The factory has one but they want $220. A bit steep and the online store is unclear as to if it is Poly or Steel. Just looking for a good deal. Joe

..................You can call EAA or check their webpage. I got this:

IV) Can I convert my 9mm Witness to 45ACP?

A) Steel frame 9mm or 40sw Witness pistols can only be converted to 9mm or 40sw or 22lr
B) Steel frame 38super, 45acp, 10mm can be converted to: 9mm, 40sw, 38super, 45acp, 10mm or 22lr
C) Any Witness P can be converted to 9mm, 40sw, 45acp, 38 super
D) Any Witness PS can be converted to 9mm, 40sw or 22lr
E) Any Witness PC can be converted to 9mm, 40sw or 22lr

So far as I know EAA is the only source for the Witness conversions as they're the importers and distributer for Tanfoglio.

EFK Firedragon makes conversion barrels. http://www.efkfiredragon.com/products.php?cat=42

They make them in standard, ported, and threaded, if planning on a suppressor.

The guys on the CZ forums say they are as good quality as the conversion kits no longer made by Bar-Sto.

Forgot to add that you may or may not be able to use the same magazines for a .40/9mm conversion. Some of the new Mec-Gar magazines have tighter feed lips and the .40 mags function 9mm just fine.

years ago my brother in law bought a eaa 9mm later i got him a conversion for the 40 s &w it came with a new complete slide/ barrel/ mag , later he bought a 9mm barrel & 3 port comp kit and a 40 barrel & comp kit all work well . but a must is to change the extractor spring to a wolff heavy duty unit.

i do not think just a bbl swap is a good idea. seems to me the slide is heavier in the 40 version. this might mean going to real heavy springs in a bbl only change and or tuning(down) loads.
