Might be worth more as downrigger weights, especially near a deep body of water. Might be worth selling just to buy known alloy.

Paint them red and evilbay has them for $40 each.

They do the same job as the cannon ball downrigger fishing weights, but look way more cool.

I'd try to sell them first, and save them to melt down last if nobody buys 'em.

they are most likely pure lead.

If you want to sell them they belong in S&S. Same with trade so I erased your offer to sell since it is outside S&S. Minor mistake. Please no offers to buy either or I'll take them for the same reason. Sorry!

I’m going to guess they were designed as downrigger weights that would fight the rig’s tendency twist as it pulled through the water.

This is not a thread trying to sell them, never planed on it, I just wanted to know what they were as I had never seen anything like it.
The post you deleted was simply a response to the many people telling me to sell them. So if you are going to delete my response to them, also delete the posts telling me to sell them.
Also, the whole response was not trying to sell them, I also mentioned how I never fish, so I had never seen anything like them, and there were no deep bodies of water near me and I am far from the coast. Just a general response to the above posts telling me what they were. You did not have to delete that part. The rest was just a response to the people saying to sell them, and that I had no desire to as they were just scrap to me, but if someone wanted them that bad....etc....

So if you feel the need, you can just delete the whole thread to stop people from trying to buy them. I am sorry this thread run afoul of the forum.

JeepAndGuns:

I strongly suggest you take the time to reread the TOS and the S&S Section Rules.

Deleting a persons whole response because of one sentence is a little rude. Just delete the sentence and then send them a PM letting them know what you did and why, and you would most likely find out it was not done on purpose to skirt or get past the rules and was just a oversight. It was a response to many requests for me to sell them, one of them coming from a moderator! The same one who reprimanded me.
This was a thread to simply find out what they were, nothing else. Once I was told many times to sell them, I felt the need to respond to those requests.
There is no need to publicly reprimand the person for a response solicited by several people. If you are going to delete that post, then delete the offers for me to sell it too.
Glad to see how well new members are treated.

Just delete the sentence .

Forum programs usually don't allow for that.
It's a 'all or nothing' sort of deal.

We don't edit posts. This was the part of your post that was the problem

If someone would rather have them as they are, then I would trade for a equal amount of lead.

I could have issued an infraction but... No good deed goes unpunished. So maybe I should have....

Hope your day gets better.

PS

Oh, and I closed it too.

Just to clarify, the Moderator was giving an example of what not to post, not making an offer on your down rigger weights.

Hope this helps.
