I don't know what they are worth today but twenty five years ago I gave $60 for mine used. That was considered a fair price for the best press on the market at that time. I thought that I was getting a good deal at the time and am even more convinced of it after all these years. It is a heavy press, works smoothly and is emmensely strong as it is steel rather than cast iron as the Rockchucker is. I have swaged thousands of primer pockets and formed several thousand cases with it in addition to normal loading. Mine was made before they started painting them green but is still in almost new condition. Must be sixty years old. I figure that has cost me just over two dollars a year so far and will probably outlast my grandson. Spend what you must but don't let it get away. Neil

Have you checked past auctions at ebay?

I've done that before listing things I've sold on gunbroker, it's a great way of gauging both value and potential demand.

Gun Broker has one for around 250 bucks! Its been there for quite a while.
They sell for as high as 175.00 and down to 120.00 depending what the buyer wants to spend. Its a buyers market right now because stuff is selling pretty cheap. Right before hunting season is the time to sell that one. Good luck and hope it helps.

Yeah, I went and looked after I posted....
Did see one sell on Gunbroker for $250. Vendor must have had two, since he's still listing it, but if you look at the sale the buyer got good feedback. Sure looks like a honey of a press.

That one has been there for a while and he just keeps rolling it over every time it ends. Same as his others that are real high priced.

Used in our area they are going for about $75. If I get another one in I will list it here.

Normally I would say $250.00 however eBay bidding on RCBS A and B series presses has been erratic and generally low for some months. This is for RCBS only, others are doing well.
If you are doing a private sale I would put $250 on it.

Currently there is an A-4 Big Max on evilbay with an opening bid of $275. I love my Big Max but I can honestly say I feel the price is way out there. Rockchuckers seem to go in the neighborhood of $100 to $125 and I personally don't see any reason for a $200+ price for an A-2 or A-4. Just my opinion though......

You'll probably have to log in to see it as its a completed auction. I'd have thought the buyer stiffed him as he kept listing with the same pics and the buyer only has one feedback, but if you look at his feedback it looks like sale went through. So I have to guess that the seller has more than one and is recycling his pictures.

So it looks like $200+ is a reasonable market value, would probably sell quick at around $150, but with so little apparent demand, I'd have reservations about starting an auction at $0.01 with no reserve.

The A-2 press is the last of the cast steel presses and will last two lifetimes. It is only slightly larger than the Rockchucker, but ten times as strong. Theywon't wear out and you can't bust them. Forty years ago, I even snapped a good old Pacific C press. The A-2 is the best single stage press every made and if made today would sell for at least $400.00. This figure from RCBS to a friend who asked. Tha is why RCBS went to the much cheapter iron presses.

I bought mine two years ago for $200.00. I would pay that or more again to get one if I didn't have one. Ten years from now, what you paid today will be cheap.
