has anyone tried Downy to patch with? I spilled some and cleaned it up with a wet paper towel[the roll kind used it the dispencers] and when it dried it was stuck tight to the trash can.

You do NOT want the patch to stick to the bullet! The patch must separate at the muzzle or you wont have any accuracy!

I use dish soap to size the prime casting, then I thoroughly rinse it off. I wrap the wet patch on the unsoaped casting, then size with JPW.
I use the JPW spareingly. I found, too much will make the patch loosen. I use the wax that is on my fingers and when I dab it on, it is just a small amount.
I have not found patch residue on my fired loads.

Itell you what those sheets DO work well for. They keep away the yellowjackets that seem to like to hang around the beeswax on my boolits. Keeps em away from the picnic table too!
