I'm wanting to find a bullet for both my 357 Max and 35 Rem barrels. The 357 is a 20" NEF and the 35 Rem is a 15" Encore. Every bullet I have seen lately is more flat nosed like a regular pistol bullet. I was hoping to find more of a pointed bullet to give better long range service. Any recommendations fir a good mold. Or anyone else using these cartridges have a recommendation for a bullet they like and have hunted with?

Thanks, Bill

I never tried it. I like heavier bullets myself. I'd be looking in the 220-260 gr range.

Do you have your mind made up that you’re looking for cast only?

look into 358 rifle bullets. if going cast look at lyman/ideal 358315 & 358318. Both need a long throat.

I went with the MP 38-200g RCBS Clone because it was highly recommended but it has a small flat point. I wanted the aluminum mold which is now up to eight cavities. LOL I asked to be notified when he did a run. There were 4 molds left yesterday.

I tried to find my way back to that mold but MP Molds has a lot of orphan pages that you can't get to from the index.

by hunting I assume that Reload1 means deer size game.
in the .357Max or .35 Rem something like a 190 grain Ranch Dog design is hard to beat.

I believe the RCBS 200 gr 35 cal bullet is accurate far past the effective range of either cartridge.

The RCBS 180 works well, it was designed for 200 meters in a revolver. I have used them for years, but in the end, the 200g FP RCBS is so accurate at 50-300, it just out performs the 180, so I stopped casting the 180s.

You might consider the Accurate 35-195R (http://www.accuratemolds.com/bullet_detail.php?bullet=35-195R). It's almost a spitzer.

Well thanks Guys for all of the suggestions. I am leaning toward deer hunting. I'm thinking out to 200 yards with the 357 max and maybe out to about 150 yards with the 35 Rem due to the shorter barrel length. I was lucky to come up with 2 molds this week from a buddy. The first is an RCBS 357-180- SIL, barely used and in great shape. Isn't a sharp nose but since it was intended for silhouette use should be good at least to 200. The other is also an RCBS 35-200-FN, very similar shape with a little larger diameter tip. Are these the bullets MT Gianni and Rapier were mentioning. I'll need to fire up the caster and cast several of each and see which one works best in each gun. Would love if one bullet did great in both. Thanks again for the recommendations. Anyone got any pet loads with either of these bullets? Bill

PS: Both of these are gas check style molds. Was wondering about trying powder coating for these bullets. Will that work with the expected velocities or should I plan on gas checks and the powder coating. May should have asked that in a different forum but appreciate any help there as well. Bill

The second is the hunting bullet RCBS makes. Lee makes a close copy.

They fed better than the 170 Hornady SPs, not one jam. COL was 2.140". Accuracy will have to wait as my sight died before the first shot. LOL
