Does anyone sell a cast bullet for 44 weighing 260-270 grain ? I would like a plain base , no gas check design and.432 size for my Marlin 1894 . I could powder coat to up the diameter a bit if needed. These will be subsonic only. Thanks

I cast a plain base that is close to 300gr. I don't have a 432 sizer but as cast is that or a tad larger. If you think it might work for you let me know and I will check if I have some as cast.

I don't have any as cast. Just a few at .430. Next spell of nice weather I could cast some up.

Sounds great, I just need a few to run a couple of different powder charges.
Thanks

Jeffsmith,
Do you know what twist your Marlin rifle has? Most have 1-38". I'm not sure of the newer ones. I sincerely wish you luck but I don't think 1-38" will keep that long of a bullet stable at subsonic velocities.
Good Luck with your project,
Rick

It’s a 1976 JM stamped so 1-38 . If the subs don’t work I’ll up the powder, might be able to replace the xtp I usually feed it. I’m trying to find some cast loads instead of J word fodder

MP Molds makes a clone of Lymans 429640 that is plain based.

I cast & PC a 44 cal 260gr GC & a 280gr PB. Sized 430. In my Winchester 1/20 twist they are deadly accurate. In your Marlin 1/38 twist, the 260 may shoot accurately. For the 280gr you would have to shoot & see.297067

I also have an integral suppressed Ruger 77/44 which is 1-20 twist. I can try lots of loads between the two, if the railroad gives me a day off 297070

270 deep curl shoot great in the Marlin at sub speeds, I don’t shoot gas checks, is there any problems with shooting a bullet made for them without them on ?

Cast bullets designed for a gas check, PC , & then shot without the GC ?? In my rifles at speeds of 1600 to 1800 fps , terrible accuracy. Perhaps at slower speeds they may work. You'll never know till you try. Might try starting out at a very slow speed, then increase gradually . See if there is a sweet spot. The base of the bullet is super critical. Like a rudder on a ship, it steers the bullet.

Powder coat with the gas check on? Maybe keep it on better?
