:castmine: Remeber someone saying that is was costly to print targets with the cost of printing cartriges--well why not (load our own)----The black ink kit cost less than 10 dollars and will refill a cartrige 20 or 30 times---A little messey at first but once you get the hang of it like anything else it becomes easy---I refill both color and black---print to ur hearts content----------Mag_01 :lovebooli

I'm really cheap! And I sometimes want to keep my targets, especially when working up new loads.

So several years ago I started saving the single sheet overruns on our office dot-matrix printer. Then I cut the bottom out of a 2 lb, I think, Folgers coffee can with my trusty P-38.

Now I set the coffee can in the center of the printer paper and spray paint a black circle almost exactly 5" across. Paint up a bunch and take to the range. When I was shooting at the San Jose "Field Park" I could staple up 6 to 9 targets on the backer at 100 yards.

Shoot 2, 3, 4, whatever, targets each shooting string and just take my pencil down range with me. Put on each target the number of the load I shot at it, taking note of group, placement, etc., and then go back and shoot another string.

Taking that many targets off and replacing them with new sometimes got me a look from other shooters, but I didn't slow anyone down, so what the heck.

After I get home I can fill in the data on the targets I choose to keep, and discard the junk. Before I discard, though, I note in my log what I thought about the load, including sometimes the size and location on the target. Those I keep are 3 hole punched and put into cardboard or manila folders ("Report Covers," by Amberg or Accopress), also scrounged from the "round file" at the office.

The paint I use is kind of free too, as I use the same flat black, high temp stuff I use on my cast aluminum Barbecue every 2 or 3 years. Got to keep it looking nice for when the in-laws or Grandkids come by for a little burger and Brat BBQ, don't cha know!;)
Anyway, that's my solution.

I take my favorite target to the local print shop. Four cents a copy, four bucks for a hundred targets. I think thier faces get a bit longer, as thier ink supply dwindles.

Go to the Remington website and hunt for targets. They have some good free ones.

You have any problems with Texas boys stealing the cobs to chew on?
