That's why I cast so I do not have to buy comm ammo. Have not bought any in over 9 years.

Do I save money? These days I doubt it, but I have not shot a gun/rifle since COVID or cast or reloaded anything either, so I guess I am saving money! For my many OTHER hobbies.

WAAAAAY too many other interesting & entertaining hobbies under my belt to keep me occupied. And no shortages or price gouging involved with those hobbies. Everything I need is in-stock at bog box centers, Woodcraft, Woodworkers Source, Guitar Center, Total Wine & More, etc.

And NO ordering from stupid EvilBay or Amazon! All stores & suppliers are within 5 miles of my house - in stock.

a friend called me from north central Florida yesterday said that the cheapest box of 270 win ammo he could find was $40 in Bradford or alachua county

Saw some 30-30 for $35 a box a few weeks back. 30-06 for the same best I recall.

It would seem odd if many of the folks here would care much about ammo prices.

Well, I don't care what factory ammo costs as I don't think I will every need to buy any. But I did stop in at Murdoch's today to check what they have in ammo. They had a fair variety and although prices were high (roughly $30 per 20rds of normal hunting rounds) they weren't unreal. 9mm from $18 up. They have some powders ranging from $30 to $45 per pound. They also have a fair supply of bullets.Things are looking better.

Strange how everything always cost more here.
Sometimes makes me wonder why I'm still here.
