New (to me) case lube

have never seen this posted before so thought I would share.

I had some old coconut oil I bought years ago at Costco. 56 oz jar for less than $10.

I could not find my Imperial sizing wax so thought I would give it a try. Sized a coffee can of 5.56 range pickups and work well. Even when I put a bit too much on I did not get case dents.

Just checked and Walmart has it for $13:

I am going to leave it sit for a while and see if it does anything to the brass. If it works, I have a lifetime supply of case lube.

Coconut oil has many wonderful uses...much more fun than lubing sizing cases...I am old but not that old...lol.

My fiancé is almost 13 years younger than I am.

My late fil worked for the company that refined and packeged a lot of the coconut oil sold down south. His complaint was they waited until winter to start processing the stuff. Trying to keeping pumping the stuff below a relativly mild temp. is a trying task. It solidifies at a somewhat high temp. Why its solid in the container on the shelf. Good stuff for popping popcorn.

So, my many bottles of coconut oil-based SPF 30 sunscreen, "Frog-something", Cocoa Butter, and the kid's "Ocean Potion" sun tanning lotions MAY ALSO BE suitable alternatives? Then I too AM SET for Life!

Maybe store the stuff in the freezer to stiffen it before applying to cases?

I use the Hornady Unique in a tub and even here in the hotter part of the PNW it gets too soft.

I memmer a version of "Lime in de coconut" song on the radio in the '60s. not Nilsson. Some guys with a Jamaican/Island accent. It went pretty high on the charts..
