Do I need to add tin or anything to wheel weights or can I just use them as they are.

Welcome mdgyro.

Bet you get a lot of responses to this.

It depends on what pressure and velocity level the bullets will be used for, and how easy it is to get complete mold fill-out. I use straight WWs for all the pistol calibers I load for, from .38 Special to .44 Magnum. Sometimes I add a little tin (50/50 bar solder) to help fill-out on a couple molds I use.

Rifles at higher velocities might require a higher antimony content for a harder bullet.

Muzzle loaders generally use straight lead and WWs are too hard.

I'm sure many other members can share more of their knowledge with you.

Go ahead and shoot them. If your molds don't fill well or you get leading, you'll need to make some changes but plenty of people shot ACWW (as-cast wheel weights) with no problems.

WW are getting harder to find, so I use a 50/50 WW/scrap lead alloy that i add 2% Tin to for better mold fillout. Works great for me! I use it from .38 to .455, nothing wild. So far I've taken it up to 850 FPS, no problems.

Happy Shootin'! -Tom

Tell us what you will be shooting them out of and we can give you a more meaningful answer. Generally, the answer is yes. There are exceptions.

I will be using them for pistol bulluts 45acp 9mm and 44mag the rifles I shoot I mostly only hunt with 30-06 and 300win mag I use jacketed for them. but I did thimk about doing some 30-30 casts but I will bother you guys with that later.

Tin is used by most for mold fill out, your 44 mold might require some to have good lube groove and driving band corners. Tin cost alot so conserve when adding, it only takes a little to work and anything after that is waste.

When you are ready to load for the 30-30 just do a search. You will read for a week! Similar for the .44 and .45.
