2021 Illinois deer numbers

147,004 deer killed in Illinois this past season. That includes archery and gun kills. 3 of those deer have taken up residence in the freezer at the Thumbcocker compound.

Illinois gets a lot of stuff wrong but it is great to be able to walk out my back door and be hunting in 10 minutes. Life is good.

Wall off Chicago and you'll have a perfect place to live. Ohio ended up with 196988. But I was only responsible for three of those.

It is enjoyable to be able to be in the stand or shack before ya get sweating or cold any more, beats the days of driving 15 miles then walk in another mile or so, before our move, Been hunting in our newish to us 50 acres for last 2 yrs and it's awesome.

Between my son and I we processed approximately 240lb of boneless Ohio venison this past season. Chewing on a jerky stick as I type this. His three kills were from archery, while my two were from a cast boolit and a PRB. A bountiful season. My 35th consecutive year for deer hunting, and hope to enjoy more to come.
