I have seen this before and found it on my clutttered bench, but cannot place what it is for.
Can you??
It was packaged in the small plastic bag with the hex key.

No, but I have the same package around here somewhere. I've never figured out where it went, either.

The best, and quickest way I can think of to find out what its for is to throw it away.

Before long, you'll realize you need it for whatever it was for and have to buy a new one....:bigsmyl2:

It looks a bit like the case feed spring guide I had on an older Dillon progressive press.

^^^Bingo, that has to be the most bestest answer.

That could very well be. I have purchased many Dillon setups from people wanting to get out of Dillon. I have never personally had a case feed, but someone may have before they sold their lot to me.

I wonder if there is a way to just pretend to throw it away and have the lost part gods smile on us.[smilie=1:

Sorry buddy.
It doesn't work that way. You have to play by the rules........

I've had a Dillon 450,550 and own 2 650s and that part doesn't look like the ejector on my presses. Might be for a Square Deal. Don't know about the other Dillon presses

Put it in your “Doo Dadd” drawer!

If you do not have one, you need one!

If the need arises the part will come in handy.

Priming setup for a reloading press? It's not identical, but similar to one I got for my Spar-T press.

The allen wrench goes in the drawer with the other wrenches you don't know what they came with. I've seen a clip similar to that one but I don't remember where.

Sort of puts me in mind of an adjustable hook for a powder feed. Lever activated with a beaded pull chain. Too long or too short, just unhook and move to the next bead.

Tough one! I had similar experiences. For my stuff, I write on the bag what it is with a black marker (I've had too many small parts in plastic bags that went unidentified for several years). I'd put the bag in an easy to find place, a drawer that is often opened. or in a "catch all" on my bench. Hopefully you will have a need and Eureka! recognize it BTDT...

Aint that the truth ... Keep that sucker 10 years and you never know ...throw it away and after the trash men leave for the city dump ... you will discover not only what it is for but how valuable they are and how hard they are to replace now .
Happened to me with a little electric charger ...10 years and I couldn't figure out what it charged ...Throwed it away and 3 days later I find ...my Electric Shaver in bottom of bag ...hiding ...
Oh Yeah ... Electric shaver ...I forgot about it ...now that sucker is useless without the charger !

I've tried that, the black marker often comes off about the time you forget what the part is.

My eventual solution was to write in ink on a piece of paper and seal it in the bag. This has worked so far...

part for a mec maybe? do you own a mec progressive or one with primer feed tray. I'm not very familiar with lee presses or primer or powder systems.
im guessing you probably have a bunch of different reloading gear. and maybe is for oner of those things. again I'm no expert but I dont think it is a part for any kind of gun I'm familiar with

I cropped the pic and had to post it so I could search the net.
I'll edit this post if I find anything...

Edit:
Search only came up with one shooting related results:
Some Browning Buck Mark pistol slide stop spring.
Edit2:
Searched ebay for trigger return spring and slide stop spring, no luck.
Looked at Dillon priming and powder drop stuff, nothing there.

I laughed out loud as soon as I read that. Great answer because most of us have done that.

I hate to ruin all of the fun but...I got a PM that suggested it may be the clip that goes on the toilet handle to hold the chain. I think that may actually be it:oops:

It's the old style that went away several years ago.
They used to come off easily, and the new ones are a snap hook design.
But that's exactly what it is.

Keep it in your reloading stuff.
It's bound to come in handy for something.

It's for the set screw to hold the (Fancier kind than I buy) handle on.
Lots of sink handles are held on the same way.

Or it's for a set screw holding the brass rod into the base of the handle.

Remind's me of a Saturday night live show (back in John Belushi days) the skit consisted of 3-5 of them standing around and all they said was " what the hell is it " seemed very weird then. But it gave me a chuckle also when I realized.... oh yeah a toilet tank hook he's right [emoji38]

The older lots had a chain opening (the smaller hook) that wasn't as flared like the one you have.

It's become obvious that most of us here either have an out house, sit on a log and 'grab a branch',
or spend as little time as possible looking down into commodes.

I've spent a bunch of time sitting on them backwards with the lid off peering at the guts. The pants be up when that happens and the pay is pretty good. Thank goodness my nose has been broken so many times.

I've spent a bunch of time sitting on them backwards with the lid off peering at the guts.

A life long friend had a Plumbing company for several years that mostly worked service on commercial properties.
We mostly ran gas lines, fixed under ground water leaks that required a jack hammer or back hoe to get to.
I'd go out with him on emergency calls late at night, and work for him on my days off.

He was a laid back, dry wit sort of guy.
One time we were at a supply house, and a young kid behind the counter was obviously having girl friend
problems and was all stressed out over them.

He told his tale of woe to my buddy, then asked for his advice.
My buddy didn't want to take a position on that, so he casually the kid,
"Don't ask me. I spend all day looking down in commodes".

I managed to keep a straight face,,,,,, but it was hard.

I see this post went down the drain but my High Standard has a spring a little like that for the safety on the drivers side under the top of the grip.
