I have a 50 caliber patched round ball rifle that I would consider a "chunk gun" that was built by one Web Terry of Gas City Indiana. I bought it in 2015 and while it is really ugly as far as wood goes the barrel in a 1.5 across the flats stainless steel Douglas XX 1 in 48 that was bored by Douglas but rifled by Web (Wilburn). The trigger group and percussion assembly are made by the late Mr. Lewis of Denver. Since it weighs nearly 20# I don't take it to the range as I get tired lifting it for shooting and then back down for cleaning.

Anyways I was shooting at 100 yards and was getting about a 1 MOA group and was pretty happy. I noticed that during the cease fires other shooters would come over and look really closely at the rifle so finally I went and asked the AR-15 shooters if they want to check it closely and they were shocked at how heavy it was. After looking through the highpower spotting scope at my target they were shocked as my groups were better than theirs. I was happy and mentioned who made the rifle and how famous he was and the records he holds even though he died in 2011 (I think). Maybe one or two of those guys will switch over to B/P like I did nearly 18 years ago.

I understand the name "Chunk Gun" now. It doesn't have to be pretty to have fun. :guntootsmiley: YeeHaw
