I am looking to make a 2-Bore Scale. Howitzer-- in fact a Krupp 21cm L14 Howitzer to be exact. I am curious has cast anything this big? I'm looking for any techniques and advice for casting in this size.

Thanks

They won't let you shoot that at the gun club I belong to. It would destroy the hill that is used for a back stop! :kidding:

That looks like a really great project. I don’t think you should have any problem getting someone to make a mold. It may not be one to be used with handles, but who knows. Good luck with your project and keep us posted with your progress.

Should not be a problem,
You will be using about a pound of alloy per projectile?
Pre-heat the mold
Fast production will not be an issue.
Use a 20 pound pot or more to keep the flow going.
Cast 10 and then re-fill the pot and get it up to temperature.
You may have to make a fixture to allow the mold to get under the
pot spout,
Will you be making the mold or trying to procure one?
Enjoy the project.

You could maybe shop around for a section of 40mm anti aircraft gun barrel. 40mm comes out around 1.56" or there about. I have a roughly 3' section that hopefully one day get transformed into a baby Whitworth gun. Unfortunately you cannot weld on these barrels due to the type of steel that they are made from. If you do weld you have to do a pre heat treatment on it, then a post heat treatment when done welding. But you can do threading for the sections that have to be built up. Frank
