Hi, does someone know the correct bullet size for the current manufactured Uberti 45 Colt 1873 rifles. Is .452 correct?

I shoot mostly 200 - 235 gr 45 ACP bullets at 1050-1200 fps in mine. I use a .454 H&I sizer which mostly just lubes some of them which drop .453+. I've shot quite a few .452 sized ones and can't tell there's much if any difference between them.

My ‘94 Marlins prefer 225-250 gr bullets, only recently started shooting my ‘73 seriously but I’m using 255 gr swc. All are .452. For CAS matches.

We have two, an 1860 and an 1866. .452 has been very accurate with an assortment of grain weights on either side of 1000 fps. Those two as well as the 73 are extremely picky about OAL more so than nose shape. The one we shoot the most is a Magma mold 45-235-rf. SWC feeds fine as long as the OAL is correct. I prefer more of a truncated cone shape, its slightly more tolerant of length violations and seems to slide in easier. For soft cowboy loads 5.7 to 5.9 grains of tightgroup hovers around 1000 fps and is extremely accurate. Most all our boolits run from 245/265 grains. FYI- same load runs mid to high 700's out of Ruger and Uberti handguns.
Good luck,
Tony

I mostly load them over Bullseye but have been using a jug of 700X I've had for a while. The measured psi [Oehler M43 PBL with Contender test barrel] shows the MAP of my loads right at the 14,000 psi of the SAAMI MAP for the 45 Colt cartridge.
