Are they hardened????
I'm thinking yes.
I want to bore one out for the size I need.

Greetings,

If you refer to Greaser Dies, boring is a waste of time.

Find someone that has a cylinder hone and have it sized that way.

You will need to machine a new ejector pin.

Cheers,

Dave

I’ve rebored a half-dozen Lyman/Ideal sizing dies and have never gotten any indication that they are anything more than mild steel. Test with a light file stroke on the edge of the bottom. If it digs in, it’s soft; if it skitters off the surface, it’s hard.

The Lymans seem to be soft from the few I've worked with. The RCBS sizers appear to have some kind of surface hardening. Some I had had a small ring near the top that I had to remove for one of my projects. Once I got through the surface hardness it was smooth going. /beagle

Judging by how easy I've scratched and trashed a couple with brass that wasn't clean enough--
If they're hardened at all,, it ain't by much.
