anyone have experience with these mounts, EGW #49321. I found one review on amazon and it says they destroyed gun slide dovetail trying to put it on a Ruger 22
I want to mount a Burris FastFire on my 22/45

I suspect the reviewer tried to install it from left to right instead of the correct right to left. It’s amazing how many people don’t read directions and/or know that dovetail slots aren’t the same width on each side. It applies to removing or installing front or rear sights also. I doubt EGW is getting it wrong. They’ve been in business for a long time and know what they’re doing. Same for Ruger.

I used their Ruger mount for a Viper red dot. I have found that if you try to drive them with a brass punch they will dig in at the edge. They go in fine with a sight pusher.

Wyoming Sight Drifter for any dovetail ensures good movement and efficiently doesn’t beat any metal up providing it is removed or started in the proper position.

I used one on a Kimber 1911. I had to use blue Loctite on the dovetail and screws to keep it in place. On the Kimber, it slipped in easily. Too easily… hence the requirement for set screws and Loctite.
