I have searched the archives and found several loads for this cute little rascal in 9mm and .38 but not anything in .357 brass. I would like info on tightgroup as well as the other usual pistol and shotgun powders. I will not be loading hot just looking for an accurate can killer load.

Thanks

I just cast some the other day, but I'm going to use 38 brass as my goal is to load very light loads.

I used in the .357 Mag---one must use a lot of high energy powder to get a consistent spread. I settled for using .38 Spec brass with a load of 5.0 of Bullseye for 1,120 FPS MV. It is a great plinker load.

Just use 38 data since you want light loads anyway or lean to the heavey side of 38.

clays is a good powder for this application, it`s not position sensitive as some others.
i`ve used 3gr. under a 140 swc in magnum brass , any lower & you`ll smoke the cases.

I found out today that in a 38 case 1.5 grains of clays is not enough. It might work in a 3" barrel revolver but it came up 1" short from leaving the muzzle in a 4". I was prepared for that possibility. 2.5 grains seems to work quite well.

All in WW .357 hulls, Fed. 100s, 6" 686
3.4 Titegroup avg. 655 fps es 122
3.4 Trail Boss avg. 710 fps es 90
3.5 231 avg. 627 es 103
This seems counterintuitve, but a heavy roll crimp gives better consistency than does a light roll crimp or a taper crimp with these pop-gun loads. There's just not enough shank to give decent case neck tension.
