today was shooting some 357 mag. ive been loading the 358186 lube sized to .360 in 357 mag brass roll crimp on the top crimp groove. 17.5 grains of 300mp. out of a 4" wheel gun its a good load and also works excellent in the Rossi 92. then after the tomato can of these loads were used I switched to some I put together with zero 158 grain flat nose with 18.5 grains 300mp.
got me to wondering what the pressure difference is between the top and bottom crimp groove with these magnum loads in 357.
I didn't take out the chronograph, I guess I should have.
with a 158 grain bullet in 357 mag Alliant lists 18.6 grains as max load with 300mp. I never ventured beyond 17.5 with the 186 because I was using the top crimp groove because it just plain works well and no signs of pressure problems, the cci primers have more rounded edges than with the 18.5gr loads with the zero's which are just slightly beginning to flatten.

Perhaps the mold in question is a 358156???
