I need to know your velocities with air cooled wheel weight gas check bullets and good accuracy. In other words, how fast you can shoot a GC bullet of straight WW with good accuracy.
Thanks;

Joe, I have several rifles I can get up to the 2000 fps level, keeping the shots in maybe 3.5 inches. One will go up to about 2200 with the same accuracy. Tailoring the hardness makes tese tighten up some, generally halfing the group. COnsider most factory rifles don't shoot condums consistantly smaller than this.

Joe-

My accuracy criteria has been to keep 5 consecutive shot groups at or below 1" at 50 yds. so far. These are factory rifles that have had minor trigger work. Nothing really to brag about - but suits me well.

I have a number of rifles in different calibers that will meet this criteria using ACWW + fractional Tin in the mix, GC'd at 1750fps - consistently. (depending on the caliber - same alloy - BHN readings range from 14 for the small stuff - .25 cal down to 10.5 in .45 cal), When I've tried to push above 1800fps - groups have opened up. My testing for higher velocities has not been extensive as I'm usually quite happy with 1750fps and accuracy.

Best regards-

Joe,
I get 1971 fps using 40.5 grains of surplus 4895 and a Mountain Mold boolit of 225 grains in my .358 BLR. Groups 2"-2 1/2" at 100.
1953 fps in my 7.62X39, CZ527 and 25 grains of WC-844 with another Mountain Mold boolit of 165 grains weight. 10 groups average 1.809". Same boolit with 28 grains of surplus 4895 produces 1878 fps and 10 groups average 1.538". -JDL

1750 to 1800 FPS seems to be about the limit on ACWW for my .450 Marlin. Beyond that, groups go south and leading gets heavy.
