Glock has a polygonal barrel. It is forged that way. Some folks have no problems.

I shot lead for a while until I blew up a Model 22 in .40 S&W in the mid 90's. I sent it in to Glock Down in Georgia. They sent me a new one at cost, about $225 and not only discouraged reloads, but absolutely no lead bullets!! Most manufacturers discourage reloads as a warranty voiding, and liability issue. Legal considerations.

After replacing the barrel with a regular conventional or cut style rifling, it was fine. The new aftermarket barrel supports the case better and allows the use of lead boolits. They are available from companies like Lone Wolf, Briley, Storm Lake, KKM, Jarvis and others.

It will scare the beans out of you if you blow one up. I had a cut on my hand. The guy at Glock, although sympathetic and un-arrogant about what I had done, said others had more severe injuries and weren't as lucky. Bystanders as well.

Just my experience. Other may and/or will disagree.

A friend who kaboomed a 40 Glock more recently says they won't even talk to you
about it any more if you used reloads, let alone lead boolit reloads.

I have a glock 21 45acp itshooys lead just fine with almost no leading. I have shot glock 22s 40s&w with lead and without fail, they all leaded badly in only a few shots. So bad that after 10 or 12 shots the bullets were hitting paper sideways at 10yds. From what I understand the 40cal and smaller have 6 sided polygon rifling and the 45 has 8 sided. The 8 sided being more round, obturate boolits better and don't lead any worse than normal rifling. The aftermarket barrels are supposed to fix that.

My buddy bought a 10mm and didnt know about the NO LEAD use in it . He had a box of 50 185 gr cast he loaded up . In 10 rounds they were missing a paper plate at 25FT. The next mag full I picked up a Fired case and it was split. We look at the barrel and it was slick with lead. He liked to never got it clean. He traded it off

My G30 will shoot lead, but I have to clean it at least every 50 rds. The polygonal rifling leads like a mother. At least mine does.
Also the stock Glock barrels leave a lot of the thin brass of the case hanging in the breeze, so they are more likely to go boom in your hand than a pistol with more chamber support.

And conversely I sold a guy 5,000 lee TC 10mm cast from WW water dropped WW bullets lubed with LBT blue and he shot them all with no issues, and another 10,000 he for from another source.
