Picked up a Rhindland 45acp kit and a stock of unknown make and unknown rifle, plus a stripped MK1 III action.
This is what I ended up with. All black inlaid's were made from a broken abony finger board from a 150 year old violin as well as the grip cap. Fore end piece is black palm left over from a different project. Had to cut strips to lay on each side of forearm to cover wide gap in barrel channel because of inletted for a different rifle. Used a 5/16 threaded rod from front of back stock so I would not have to drill thru stock for enfield butt screw. attach with nut inside of action.
I am no wood carver or engraver but this is what I came up with.
Wife says I am spooky because I always see something in every stock. Trying to get pictures loaded.

That is so cool. Game will be missed- because the hunter will be studying the artwork of the gun.
Way to adapt and persevere and give it soul.
A .45 bolt rifle will be handy to have around.

YES !! That is very COOL ! I am sure I have a old 22 rifle or shotgun that needs some custom work like that.
I will try my hand at the carving someday when I get a idea where to start at.

Have been grieving over the loss of Gunner my lab since last March. Thought this was a way to remember him and to know someday we will be watching the sun raise again together

Seeing something like that points out how far above my poor skills some people are. I can't say I'm envious because envy assumes that I might attain such skill someday. Even if I were 40 years younger that would still be out of my non-artistic reach.

Congratulations on creating a one-of-a-kind heirloom.

Thank you, like I have said I am not a engraver or wood carver, just bulled headed. I also known all my life I could never afford to have carving or engraving done so had to do it myself, if I wanted it. I turned 71 this year pass so never give up on yourself.

Hi Bill: Before you even mentioned it I knew that it's you and Gunner on the stock. What a beautiful rifle, and a fitting tribute. Excellent workmanship as usual.

You know me well, thank you for the kind words and all the help you have given me.
I still grieve for him he was such a big part of my live, it only seem fitting to have made this in his memory.
Hope your latest project is going well.
