This is something I got in the lot of lead that came with the last of the Wheel weights I just went and picked up. I now have 1500 lbs. of 100% lead WW's and some assorted Linotype pigs and other blocks that are unidentified but suspect lino from the sound of them. Then there are these ingots that are marked "extra wiping". They are around 2 1/4lb.

High tin level alloy for wiping and sealing lead joints. Good stuff!

Might be 50/50 tin-lead.

I just Googled Rochester and they are still in business, I am going to give them a call Monday and see if they can tell me anything.

40/60 lead solder for wiping

It's still used for making the joints on the thin wall Lead drain/sewer pipe connection piece
under a commode in multi story buildings with concrete floors, and roof flashings.

The 'extra wiping' is probably to mark it as the really good, expensive stuff the melts at a pretty low temp.
