An alternative, just in case.

I was going to try that with my .303 British, however, with casting, I get lots more reloads than I might with jacketed.

You might order some of the PRVI soft point ammo from Wideners and shoot it, then reload it.

I have heard that it is boxer primed (might want to confirm that when ordering) and have heard good things about PRVI brass. 100 loaded rounds would cost you about the same as 100 Lapua brass. I would have gone this route for my Rossi single shot, but I bought some Lapua brass from Grafs when they still had it in stock before I saw the loaded ammo at Wideners. Still might get some as I think the 123 gr. roundnose should make a pretty good hunting load.

I was looking at the private partizan at weideners and that might just be the way to go.
Thanks all.

The arms and ammo market is in an absolute frenzy. When sales totals for the period between election and inauguration are known, the figure will be off the chart staggering.

You may try these folks. http://www.blue-star-inc.com/ I haven't bought from them in a year or so but they are good folks. They have once fired 7.62x39 listed. Good luck.

If you don't mind a little trimming work, .35 remington or 6.5 Carcano would work, both available from Grafs. Trim, resize, good to go.

How would that work? The 7.62 x 39 is a rimmed cartridge.

7.62 x 39 is rimless, the 7.62 x 54 is rimmed. You might try Grafs & sons for the x 39

Might be fairly easy to resize 6.5 Carcano, but the .35 Rem. is a bit bigger at the base and rim, might take a little more than just resizing (maybe). Also might have to turn or ream the necks with either of them, maybe.

Is it just me or does it seem odd to have to consider forming not so common caliber brass into something so common as 7.62x39?

Also, anyone notice that there are bunches of Russian 91/30s, 44's and Hungarian M95s, etc. for sale everywhere but boxer primed brass is very difficult or impossible to find for those calibers. As fast as Grafs, etc. sells out of the stuff when they do have it, there is surely a large demand for it, but no one is making it.

There WAS 1000 Winchester once fired on brassjunkies.com for $80.00 just a few days ago. Somebody snapped it up before I made up my mind....he who hesitates is lost.

Buying the loaded Privi might be your best bet, as that's the same brass sold by Graf and Sons (when they have it). I did have the smarts to get 100 rds. Should have bought more though.......whooda thunk the market (and political wave) would come to this point? Hopefully it's just a hiccup and will return to normal.
