I would like to hear from anyone who has used this bullet in a 45-70. It's the 405gr hollow based bullet. I just bought this mold to work up some 45-70 loads.

I have used it with marginal results. I don't fault the bullet though as I was shooing them out of an original 1873 Trapdoor Springfield. The best I could get was 2" at 50y. Not too bad I guess but was hoping for better. I could do some more workups and might yet get a better load. What are you shooting them out of?

I just got this mold myself and cast a few WCWW boolits to try. My first batch resulted in 3-4 inches at 75 yards with my H&R Handi rifle. This was a light "trapdoor" load of IMR4198. I may try air cooled WW for my next try. Some folks on another forum have had good results with this boolit. Good luck and please post your results.

These loads are for my brother in law. I'll let you know as soon as he has tried them out.

Cast of pure Pb this boolit is the only one that will shoot accurately in my
old beater trapdoor with a marginal barrel. This one saved the rifle for
me. I think it would be questionable with loads much above the trapdoor
level as the base would likely blow out irregularly as the boolit exits the
muzzle at higher pressures. At low pressures in oversized or really worn
barrels, it works well.
