My wife just talked me into seeing a movie called Wind River made in 2017. Stars Jeremy Renner as a game warden on an Indian Reservation. Part way through the movie you find out he's carrying a Marlin stainless Guide Gun and it even shows him hand loading 4570s on screen. Nice to see a modern movie using current lever guns.

In the TV series The Big Valley made in the 1960's it shows Barbara Stanwyck using a 336. And I've seen at least one Publicity still of Linda Evens holding one.

It’s a good movie; and addresses a respect for the firearm as a tool.
And I like the scene when he harshly scolds his son for poor/thoughtless firearms handling/ poor firearm safety

River of No Return with Robert Mitchum and Marilyn Monroe has Mitchum shooting an old Marlin 1893.

I remember first seeing a modern Marlin in one of the recent Jurassic Park movies.

Was watching Joe Kidd last night and loved the Savage 1899 and the Mauser Broomhandle. The movie was supposed to be 1900 New Mexico, so the Savage was correct. Not sure about the Broomhandle.

Good movie, although I had to wince watching him chamfer the casemouths.

.

The original Mauser C96 Broomhandle was produced from 1896 to 1937. :bigsmyl2:

I hated that show. Too much like a soap opera than a western.

Chris Pratt in Jurassic World. Might even be the same rifle.

I was super disappointed when that movie turned out to be one long product placement.

The shootout with the Security Guys in Wind River was pretty good until people started rocketing backwards from the 45-70 shots.

Wind River was a great movie ...great ending
Besides the rifle, there is a scene where he's reloading some ammo.

here's a trailer, they show the rifle at 1:10

Some time ago I was watching an old Randolph Scott movie, forget which one, but at the end he goes back to get a woman and leave town and he puts a Marlin 1893 in the wagon when he climbs on to leave. Saw it right off!

In a different vein I was watching an episode of Wagon Train last week and Clint came riding into a gunfight shooting his 1873 Colt Model P and fired it eight times without reloading.

FWIW In the modern vein, when Walt Longmire decided someone needed shootin’ he grabbed his Winnie 94. In Yellowstone John Dutten doesn’t have many scenes where he doesn’t have his 94 near to hand either.

Wind River (and I’d forgotten Jurassic World) is probably the main reason the 1895 SBL sells like hotcakes

I had watch Wind River for what you all said about it on here and was a good movie. Did not show if he done anything about the mountain lions . Good show otherwise nice to see a movie is base on a true story then too many of the fakes .

In Yellowstone Costner said the '94 is the one his dad carried and used.

Ever seen Free Range? In one scene , Kevin Costner shoots his SAA 13 times. No breaks, no reloading, just sustained fire. Magic.

From Wind River, my favorite quote: “Luck don’t live out here.”

In 1900, the broom handle Mauser was "the hot setup" in many circles, especially if the owner could also afford the Savage rifle which cost about twice what an 1894 Win. cost.

Wind River was written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the Yellowstone TV show. Lots of lever guns in that one too. He must be a fan!

I liked Wind River so much I bought the DVD. Drove through the actual Wind River area and it was very much like depicted in the movie. ... and, yes, he trimmed those cases like he was mowing the lawn.

don't know why but made me think of, well not a marlin, and I am a big fan of marlin lever actions, but a winchester in a movie-- recently saw the original billy jack movie online--wow, like I was in a time warp., I remember seeing that in movie theatre a long time ago, and at the time it was kind of like one of those game-changer movies.

In one of the John Wayne movies, where they are on a raft in some river rapids, he is holding and shooting a Daisy 94 BB gun. I guess if it went overboard, it wasn't like losing a 92.
