That price is too special for. Santa got me 1 for Christmas and it was under 300 with a wood stock.

Not sure it's a "useless cal". Guns and Ammo article on the 17hmr in the current mag. Over one billion rounds sold in 20 years, since it's introduction!

Personally, it the best small varmint round I've ever shot. I have 2 Rugers, 77-17 and a Precision. Both shoot extremely well.

17 hmr is very far from useless.
