It has been a long road but the Marlin Centennial has finally come around. With a couple of ranging shots I was able to hit a clay bird on the 200 yard berm. Happiness [emoji4]. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211224/aa5d8c4c1374aa52781866e2998c60b3.jpg

About the same load I use with the 185 GC version of the RD. Works well. Loaded some with unique and 145gr PB to try, got new electronic muffs I want to try, hoping for a bit warmer day.

Great shooting!!
3031 has always been a good choice!
In my Savage 340 - 30/30 using IMR4198 is the rule. Shooting your group size but only @ 100yards. Also with peep sights.

CWJust to clarify. The target is 100 yards. I did hit a clay bird on the 200 yard berm once I got the holdover right. Target is NOT 200 yards.

Congratulations ...Well Done ! :drinks:
Ironic , my pet 30-30 load is with a 175 grain Lyman #311041 GC FP
over 27 grs. IMR 3031 @ 1852 fps .
3031 just seems to work with the 30-30 and cast boolits !
Good Shooting ... a clay bird at 200 yards ...WOW !
I'm Impressed !

I disagree. If you hit a clay at 200 yards every shot with a .30/30 cast bullet, you are one hell of a caster, reloader and shooter. That is very impressive.

Not every shot. Ranging shots with a spotter to figure out which cross bar on the post to use. Then hit the bird. Then quit while I was ahead.

Always quit when ahead. 30/30 145 PB & 9.5 unique. Fun, no recoil and plenty for hogs. Just front bag @ 50. Disregard the top 2, an experiment that didn't work. Kinda cold that day, could have done better. Just loaded up another 30 rnds of it.

That's a fine group at 100 , once dialed in I believe you would be good for 1 clay bird per shot at 200
