LEE BULLET MOLD 356-125 2R for 9mm

Really short … my Sig’s are ok with 1.075 to 1.080. I’ve read the CZ’s want ‘em even shorter. 3.6gr of Bullseye runs good for me.

Myns max at 1.100 for the HG's i shoot them with, but I'm sure it will be shorter with others. Just gotta make a couple of dummies and fit them in all your HG barrels. Take the shortest allowable length and make that your max overall cart. length.

I'd have to go look, but I think I have that mold too and the ogive is too fat. Seated at normal length, the rounds hit the throat and won't go into battery. So, a bit shorter OAL is required.

Yep, real short, it's why I got rid of it. Way too short in my opinion if you PC it.

Thanks for taking time to respond during this busy time of year.
Was having feed problems with the PC 356-125 2R in my new Springfield Hi-Power.
I had been running this round at 1.135 in a 226 but in the Hi-Power there was a feed problem.
As suggested, I dropped the COL to 1.085. No more problems.

It really depends on the pistol and it's barrel throat ... or lack of throat .
WWII era Walther P-38 with generous wartime throat - 1.090" OAL works nicely .
Friends Compact Springfield , recent manufacture - 1.065" OAL before it will plunk in and drop out .

Make up a dummy (no powder - no primer) and plunk test OAL and hand cycle to check feeding before loading up a bunch . Just because the "Book" says the OAL should be X.XXX" that doesn't guarantee it will fit and function in your pistol ... Same goes for a case gauge ... don't mean doodly-squat ... only the barrel counts .

The only one of my 9s that will accept that .356 125 RN at a reasonable length (1.125) is my Beretta APX. There are a lot of bullets I like better. It works Okay in 38SPLs. Gp

The 125s are kind of fat, so they do load short. The 124 tumble lube are MUCH better for CZ chambers.

My choice happens to be 1.075 but I just looked at it and used it and since it worked in my accurized Beretta 92, my Browning Highpower, and my WWII Walther along with whoever has come to the range with me and have no bullets I haven't changed it. I used Tite Group and Power Pistol and I think Unique once. I might be interested in making them longer because the 9mm cases taper rather quickly on the inside and they might swage down the back of the bullet. I haven't done much testing of these guns for accuracy except a bit with the Beretta and the first loads I used were SWC design and I think they were RCBS 115. At 25 yards they only grouped around 2 1/2 inches with one flyer out of every ten rounds at about 6 inches so whatever is causing the problem is not real prevalent but I removed some of the bullets and they were clearly being swaged. Also the group is way too big for this pistol because with jacketed and in the Ransom Rest, they will group 1 1/2 inches at 50. I think you should use whatever works for you but if you are getting flyers with anything, this is likely your problem. I shot the Beretta at a Bullseye match with the Lee 125 bullets but I only shot at 25 yards and did not notice any fliers so I am pretty sure they at least worked better than the RCBS bullets which have to be seated deep because they are SWC. Since some of you guys have good results longer I might look into lengthening them if I can.

I find the Lee 120gr. TC or the RCBS 124 TC ( basically the same) pretty hard to beat for cast bullets in the 9s. Gp

OAL is what fits YOUR gun. Every gun is diff, so make a dummy round & test fit the chamber. IF it fails to go into battery, shorten 0.010" until it does.

I seat it just deep enough to hide the crimp groove. Works in everything I have.

Got rid of mine eventually - too much fighting to get it to chamber in friends' pistols due to the modern propensity for short throats.
