We were eating at a local (Baton Rouge , La.) restaurant , we go there often ... Looking down at the menu and I see the two words ... Fried Ribs ...
I usually get the Breakfast Brunch or a Hamburger and don't look too hard at the menu .
But ... Fried Ribs sorta hit me in the face ... I ask the server what is this all about ... a big smile lights up her face and see tells me they start the ribs off in the smoker with special dry rubbed seasoning and slowly smoke them untill they are a good half way done and tender ... out the smoker and cooled ... when an order comes in the ribs are cut apart , battered in a wet then a dry deep frying batter like you batter and fry chicken ...they batter and fry the ribs ... when done the ribs are dipped into a hot Honey ... the hot honey and hot ribs leaves just the right amount of honey (a thin coating) on the ribs and it sinks into the ribs so it's not drippy-messy ...just honey glazed perfectly .
After hearing that ... I put the menu down and said " Let's Do it !"
She brought out a platter of 6 big spare ribs on a bed of Roasted Corn Maque Choux !
I'm going to admit ...probably the best ribs I've ever eaten ... I ate all the ribs and the Corn Maque Choux ... and went into a rib coma ...Man that was good !

So if you ever see Fried Ribs on a menue , at least at Willie's Restaurant in Baton Rouge ...I will give them a 5 star rating and a 10 ! Can't wait to do it again !

Sounds interesting, but has me wondering how they came up with that idea.

I wonder if it started out with 'hold my beer and watch this.'

My heart started clinching up a little just from reading your post. Don't know if it was emotional or physiological. jd

I live less than 10 miles from there. I'll have to give them a try.

That Red Post country has some really good eats, plus east and west of there. May not be able to pronounce half of it but it eats good.

They must be the same folks who came up with double fried bacon!

This post, make that this entire thread is just cruel to a poor guy who lives in Western New York and has the same chance of making it to the OP's recommended restaurant as the proverbial snowball.

We have a BBQ here in Cincinnati that won several prices with their fried smoked ribs (https://www.elisbarbeque.com ). They have a great sweet rub and the only downside is that they want to charge you over $3 per bone, which I find a bit over the top...

Darn it. My fry Daddy is too shallow to fry the whole rib. But the smoker is being lit today for 2 turkies. Might be enough room for 1/2 rack.

I had never heard of "Fried Ribs" either ... I may have seen it on Willie's Menu but just assumed it was ribs ...they fried and served ... doen't sound that good ...
But when the server started explaining how they were prepared from dry rub smoking to hot honey glaze ... she had me hooked . The whole process works perfectly and the honey glaze is the crowing achievement . You get 6 large spare ribs and a bed of roasted corn maque choux for $23 that's $3.83 a rib not counting the corn ... worth every penny and I can't wait to do it again .
At my age eating them Fried Ribs are better than making love with my wife !

Will they ship to Maine? Kinda like the Mash episode where they had an order of "Adams Ribs" shipped to Korea. But they forgot to order the BBQ Sauce!

Where did you fing fried ribs ... is it something some Southerner thought up ...
Like Deep Frying Turkey's ... I know that started down here ...my Daddy would do it when mom didn't want her oven tied up baking a turkey ... Dad even bought a tall narrow "Turkey Frying" pot to do it in !
Merry Christmas Gator !
