Really would like to get some micrometer seating dies but for like $80 a pop not in my budget. Thinking this would be nice

It may be my eyes only, but I can't read or identify any of your attachments.

I have not seen those from Frankford. I only have one micrometer seating die and it cost more than that complete set. Looks like a good deal.

My concern is the list of bullet sizes listed. It looks like the fittings are designed for jacketed bullet diameters and may not allow the over sized cast bullets to be used. Perhaps someone will eventually buy it and make a range report on how it works with cast bullets. I would take into consideration how much dimensional change variance occurs when using powder coated bullets too. That might result in an added undesirable factor.

Might just be a great idea but hard to pry my money from my hands for a new idea.

I just don't get micrometer seating dies. We all have, or should have, a good set of calipers with which to measure cartridge overall length. When we have found what we like, make up a dummy round and use that to adjust the seating die again when we want that same cartridge length.

^^^^^ This! Also the same method can be used to make up dummy rounds for other purposes such as anvils for pound casting, trim length etc., also you can use (where possible) Berdan primed cases so you do not waste a good case.

Wolf, if you're considering them, don't buy from that site. Save yourself $30 and try this one:

I haven't used the universal seating die set, but I was looking at them. I can't comment on how they work. If you get the set please give us your review of how they work.

Once again, I agree with Char-Gar.

After following the link, it looks like an economy version of the Vickerman inline seating die. I'll pass. I had one and didn't like it due to the fiddly set up and needing an extended shell holder. No mention that I saw about needing those with this die set, but you have to get the window above the threaded hole in the press.

I try to minimize the number of gadgets I have, and do my best to resist buying them.

With the quality of name brand seating dies in set, I've been more than happy with them,
and have resisted the urge for the micrometer ones.

But then again, I doubt if I'll ever fire for the Bianchi or Wimbledon Cup either.
