So just out of curiosity how many different molds have been made for the 30-30?

You'd have to go to each manufacturer's page and count everything they each make in .30

When you find one that you think wouldn't possible work,,, one of these guys here will say,
"Oh, those work great for me".

Not to mention all the .32 cal pistol molds that can be used in .30 caliber rifles.

You definitely got a point there.

30-30 is so very versatile-- pretty much anything that drops close to 0.309-0.311 will work. I have use 90 grain 32 pistol bullets all the way to 200 grain bullets-- and haven't gotten close to exploring the possibilities. I even use 150 grain spire point, boat tail jacketed bullets (not in a lever magazine, of course).

Many years ago I was talking to the ballistician at Accurate Arms. I was asking questions about 5744 and asked him how low a charge could be used. He answered, "Till you get a bullet stuck in the barrel" Paraphrasing that in answer to your question, if it can be stuck in the case and chambered I'm sure somebody has sent it. When it comes to cast boolits, there's no such thing as "made for". A boolit might be "intended for" but if it will chamber, send it.

The possibilities are infinite with the 30-30 Winchester. I understand the question, and I'm pretty sure any mold maker at some point in time has produced a .30 Caliber mold designed just for the 30-30 Winchester. I wouldn't want the task of finding out just how many were designed for the 30-30 Winchester.

This thread poses an interesting challenge for me. I just got a .30-30 barrel for my Encore from EABCO. it is 26" with 1:10 twist. In my little coterie of 9 or 10 other reloaders who have gone to the dark side (casters), I have access to at least 20 molds of .308 to .313.

I will get back to you in a year or two.

Ain’t that the truth. I have a 30/30 rifle barrel for my contender and can tell you that with a single shot the loading combinations are endless.

My only 30-30 is a 14" contender barrel.
I bought it for cast bullet use only.
I haven`t tried a lot of different bullets in it but 311291 is my favorite with Unique.

So just out of curiosity how many different molds have been made for the 30-30?

Current moulds , in stock that you can buy today ?
Or every mould by every company , made for the 30-30 since 1895 ?

Never seen a " 30-30 Winchester molds " can you post pictures

Now I have several molds that produce good boolitz for use in the 7.62x51R.

I have two old Ohaus molds, 30180R and 30170F, they are very similar to the Lyman 308291 and 308041 respectivly.

and many others.

There are many 30 caliber mod designs.
For my 30-30 Winchester, use the Ideal molds

I guess it depends if you define a .30-30 bullet as something designed to avoid chain-detonations in the parent, tube-fed 1894 lever action, or for loading it into other things.

I did a pound cast of my Glenfield 30-30 throat and then picked a Ranch Dog design that seemed taylor made for my rifle's throat. Think it is about 160 grains.

Lyman's 311291 and 311041 have long been amongst the most popular cast bullet molds for the 30-30. Having said that, you could check out the Accurate molds website and just about anything from 130 grain to close to 180 grain and be reasonably sure it would work in the 30-30. Frank

Ranchdog’s .30 cal designs work great in Marlin 336 30-30’s.
