wouldn't pin gages be good for measuring the id of the neck (after sizing) for proper neck tension using cast bullets.??

They would work for that. Be sure to get them in half thou increments as .001" increments is too coarse.

I think a small hole gauge set(the kind with the expanding ball) and a micrometer would probably be a bit better and more universal. But if you've got a decent pin gauge set, it would work too

DougGuy,

Do you know of any available 0.0005" sets that would fill most reloading needs, without a lot of extras and at a reasonable price?

Thanks for your attention.

I got full sets from ebay, Meyer M2 and M25 (I think). ZZ Minus is the class you want to use for gun work, pins are .0002" under the stated size.

If you don't want the complete set, you would need a range of pins that would cover whatever caliber you want to measure. For a Ruger 45 caliber revolver, you would need from .450" to .4525" which in half thou increments is 6 pins, you can get individual pins from Meyer Gauge Co. and you should just make their $25 minimum order. Very fair pricing and very fair shipping, of course Made In USA.

Depending on your projected use, it is often cheaper to buy a set that to buy piecemeal. At least it was in my estimation.
