Hope this is the right place to post this.

I was lucky enough to buy one of theperfessor's boolit sizer sets years ago. I wish now that I had looked to how I would expand in the future in my needs. Since theperfessor has long passed to his reward I'm in need of someone with a lathe that can turn me push rod for my newest caliber. The photo shows it relative size, if I can find someone to make me one I can supply measured drawings. Fingers crossed, thanks!

I'm willing to give it shot. You have a particular material you want it made out of? I'll need the drawing before I know if I have the right materials in the right sizes, but I have some O1 drill rod, and 4130 bar stock laying about.

PM me.

Bill

Thanks Bill, The ones I have are steel, don't know what kind, but it will just be pushing a boolit through a sizing die. Let me get the drawings together and I'll shoot you a PM.

The perfessor is alive & well. You can find him over at the Art & Science of Bullet Casting site.

Works for me. I'm not a professional machinist, though I'm attending professional training at a local technical college. I can recognize a lathe two times out of three, anyway. ;) And I've made a .316" sizing die and punch for my Lyman 450. One on the left is a factory die & punch, on the right the ones I made. Couldn't swear it will work, since I've not gotten to play with my reloading stuff yet. Been a long freaking time, too. Do finally have my lathe where I can get to it, which helps a lot.

I am so sorry to preach his early demise, he hasn't posted here since 2015 or so.

He used 1144 prehardened steel

I got a pretty good order from him a few weeks ago. Included several flat top punches and cup top punches to make custom top punches.

Love his top punches and the Lyman retaining die retaining nut wrench.

Forgot about the wrenches. I've had the Lyman size wrench for quite awhile. Last order included a RCBS size wrench. Not as necessary but still a convenience.
