Here's some data from yesterday's shooting with surplus powder in my chopped Turk 38, caliber 8x57. Barrel = 20". Cases = R-P. Primer = CCI 200. Bullet = Lyman #323471 @ 220 grs RTL and seated just off the lands. Crimped heavy with Lee FCD.

32.8 IMR4895 @ 50 yards = 3 in 11 1/2"; 2 in ~7". AV = 1675 est

29.3 IMR4895 @ 50 yards = 3 in 1 3/4".

45.7 WC860 @ 50 yards = 3 in 1 1/2".

49.2 WC860 @ 50 yards = 3 in 3/4". AV = 1554; ES = 26; SD = 19

50.0 WC860 @ 50 yards = 3 in 3/4". AV = 1598; ES = 39; SD = 21

50.0 WC860 @ 75 yards = 3 in 3 1/4", 2 in 2". (Flier outside group.)

50 grs of WC860 is a case filled to the base of the neck. There's zero pressure signs, so do y'all see a problem with going to maybe 51 grs?

Nope. You can't get enough in there to cause a problem.

Thanks, Buckshot. That's what I thought, but I wanted an opinion from someone more knowledgeable than me.
