Anyone have load data for Trail Boss and Rim Rock 250 gr rnfp 45 acp sized .451 ? I measured and 4.6 gr is to the bottom of the bullet .

IMR says to mark the outside of a case where the bottom of the bullet will rest, pour in that volume of TB, weigh it and that’s you maximum load (pressures will be below cartridge max load and will be safe). They advise the starting load to be 70% of the max. Now to the big question, are you wanting to do this in an auto loader or revolver? I’m curious if it will cycle the action of an automatic. Also, if shooting from a long barreled revolver, I’d double check if the bullet cleared the muzzle

I’ve used TB in 44 magnum but never 45 acp. I was wondering if anyone else has. I will run it in a Glock 21 with lone wolf threaded barrel. I was hoping to find out if 4.6 was enough to prevent a squib.

in 2012 I tried a load using the 200g H&G mould and trail boss

only tried 50 rounds did not go max

At the Low end cases were dirty, never did get to 100% function

Power factor was Higher than a light reloaded 9mm
so I bought a 9mm 1911 to shoot lighter loads for wife/ daughter

200g using 231 WST and a light load in the 45 still functions but means One less powder to buy/ store

292779I’ll load a few and run them through my chronograph.
Might try a few of these pin loads too.

I loaded Trail Boss with a 230 grain lee tumble lube bullet around 4 years ago. I do not remember what the charge weight was, but it was right to the bottom of the seated bullet. It would not cycle the action reliably on my Springfield XD 45. I loaded 50 and finally shot them all. Good powder for 38 special and 45 Colt. I shot my my 45 Colt Blackhawk yesterday loaded with Trailboss under a 255 Lee bullet that was powdercoated. I like it in those 2 straight wall cases. Good powder for new reloaders since it is impossible to double charge a case. No luck with semi autos, just revolvers.
