In a fleabay deal, I got this part. It is only part of a mauser safety made by a one H. B. Anderson, Yakima WA. I obviously don't have the whole of it and would like to find out more. I have pics but for some reason the upload thingy is dead. It seems almost daily that the tubes are screwed up.

Pictures would really be helpful!

Resize your pictures smaller. Generally 800x600 works for me.

I always resize pics but for some reason they will NOT upload and I suspect it has to do with a newer computer and Win10, which, IMO, is the suckiest windows yet. It's a bloated monstrosity. Anyway, here is a thread I started on another site if anyone is inclined to go there (where I had to send pics to a member in order to show!).

First time I have seen one, but it looks like a spring and ball would hold the thumbpiece down and remove vertical play of the thumbpiece, maybe.

It appears to be a tang safety conversion for the common bolt action rifles of the 1920's and early 30's. The reason I say that is that it mentions Springfield, Mauser and 54, but not the Model 70.

No, not a tang safety but a side safety. He did, however, make a tang safety as I have discovered. If you put it up to an action one can discern its function, but with missing parts it isn't possible to understand all the mechanics.
