My dad used to use this bullet in his 2nd generation SAA, loaded over 7.5 grains of Hercules Unique. He also shot NRA Bullseye, so I "suspect" that this bullet did double-duty. It also shot to the sights of the Colt...which would shoot about 4 inches high at 25 yards with a 250-255 gr. bullet.
Has anyone experimented with this bullet in the .45 Colt? What powder and load did you use? As I remember, the Unique load was fairly accurate, but dirty. He also loaded on a Tru-Line Jr. turret...so his loads were neck sized.
I'm looking for loads that are a tad more gentle in the recoil department, as well as being more economical.
Anyone?

Any load for a 200 gr cast load should work for you.
Start low and work up.

For economic loads across the board,32ACP to 45 Colt HP38 is my favorite. Any of the faster powders Clays through Unique work well in the 45 Colt for plinking-target loads. I believe Bullseye was used in most early smokeless powder factory loads. I used up several pounds of TiteGroup before switching to HP38 and now use it unless a very heavy hard hitting round is required and then it's #9 or 2400. Gp

Make sure the 452460 bullets are large enough in diameter to "fill" the cylinder throats of your 45 Colt.
Because, if they are not, you may have poor accuracy and /or leading.
