Nice kill.

I started deer hunting with a Howa .243 in the early seventies; it reliably killed them dead. Then, late seventies, I picked up a deadly Rem. 700 in .30-06. Both did a great job in the woods but ....

Fortunately, in the mid-eighties I finally lucked into a .336/.35. It has been my beloved "go-to" woodland deer rifle ever since. The deer are just as dead, just as quick, and, without the higher velocity and resulting bloodshot-meat, there's no waste because, as ol' Elmer Keith once said, we can happily eat the bullet hole; we LOVE venison so what's not to like about that? Enjoy your excellent rig, inside 200 yards there's nothing better or more pleasant to use!

(Wildlife agencies have often told us that (very few eastern whitetail are taken passed 80 yards!)

The 35s with a 200 cast is a great combination for deer, bear and hogs. Nice buck.

I never heard of the English Hill St forest and had to look it up. Learn something new every day.

Gotta love the .35 rem. I'm using the saeco 356 in my marlin.

Great buck! Congratulations!

I have extra reason to love this thread- I plan to use that boolit in my .350 Legend and while I may not be able to get 2080fps, 1950 or so should be doable. Kind of like spotting the deer 25 yards or so.

I just finished pressure testing the 35-200-FN in the 35 Remington loaded over LeveRevolution powder.

Could I ask the load you used?

Very nice buck!

Larry Gibson: If you were willing, would you mind sharing pressure results you may have on ~200 Lead GC in 35 Rem w/ LeverEvoltion?
I have used the following w/ good target accuracy out of a 35 Rem TC 14" hunter w/ brake, and I am curious for pressure results on similar (not exactly hoping for same combinations).

204 Lyman cast GC, LeverEvolution 42 gr (my Target load) 45 gr (Max, possible hunting), WLR
Accurate 36-205B cast GC, LeverEvolution 43 gr (Target load & possible hunting), WLP. Yes, Pistol, not LR.

I used to use the 180 Hornady SSP, and it worked very well for me on a couple deer, but also had one literally come apart when I hit a front leg bone going in. Deer got shot twice, second was very lucky as it was no where near the same time/day when I found the deer the second time. I had switched to a 200 Hornady, but Deer were scarce for a bit when I carried that, and I wanted to move to a cast out of a tougher alloy.

Thanks for what you might be able to provide.

Dang, Also meant to congratulate "DeadDeerWalking" on a Nice deer!

Weather was damp here in season, farmers could not harvest. I believe the deer were just lying in the corn. Hardly saw a thing.

I'll put the data together and post it. Probably start a new thread with it on the sub forum "CB Loads, Your Favorite Cartridge".

What a dandy! Nice job! My best accuracy came from 40 grains of varget with a 200 grain group buy HP. My alloy is 50/50 COWW and pure with 2% to the total. It’s the group I shot in my avatar. Tried a group at 200 yards with it that measured 2 1/4” if I remember. Dropped 9” when zeroed at 100 yards. Only shot one deer with the load and it dropped stone dead in its tracks. Velocity averaged 2087 fps out if 6 loads I ran though my chrony with a 20” 336 microgroove barrel. I also tumble PC them.

Larry,
Thanks for posting the 35 pressure data.

BTW: I had used WC680 for a while w/ 180 Hornady SSP, but stopped.
It shot well (31 gr, 1965 fps w/ WLR from 14" TC w/ brake), but the brass would stretch.
I pirated the data from extrapolation of 357 Herret data. They are fairly close, but I began ti distrust the load.

The brass stretching I find odd in this cartridge, and I never found a plausible explanation.
I neck sized mine for a while w/ a carbide 38/357 die, never touching the body. Everything goes fine for a while, then difficult closing of action indicating length to shoulder problem which I verified w/ measurements. Then I switched to LEE collet neck sizer. Same sort of thing happens. I find it odd. I'd blame the TC breach springing under pressure allowing slow growth when the action is dynamically stretched to max headspace, but that hypothesis seems to be lacking to me because of other factors.

Again, thanks for the data.

Nice one. I have my grandfather's .35 I hunt with. An old Remington 81 with a 4x Weaver mounted.
