The wife I went hunting this evening, about 5pm with 45 minutes to hunt. I had saw several does out in fields last night, but I could not hunt there, we were back into our old honey hole, she could shoot 300yds in any direction, and I had 300-400 view. She got set up and I went around to the back of the spot and as I came around a point, there was 4 does out in the field, unconcerned. I had my 6.5x284 and got to stretch its legs. I sat on the 4 Wheeler and turned it off, tightened the sling up good and got calm, Put my left elbow on my left knee I had propped that foot up to get a good solid position.I figured she was about 370 or thereabout yds. I had turned my scope up to 7, put my first mild dot down from the cross hair a little above center and started applying pressure to the trigger, all the time weaving in a circle that looked like a eating plate. The shot surprised me when it broke, my hands were cold and the trigger felt lighter, but it jerked the rug out from under her, breaking both shoulders and taking a good sized chunk of lung out the exit hole. I was shooting a Sierra Gameking, 140 gr, at 3100fps, DRT. I have hunted this field my whole life, know the yardage from every spot on it, same field I killed the ML buck from earlier this year. This is one of the biggest does I have shot, easy 140# gutted. I will send pics to TBG to post. Just thought I would share.

Dang, Sam- that's a heifer!
I shot a doe half that size a long time ago with that same bullet from a 26" 6.5 Remington magnum. "Like lightning" for sure.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211124/b40292464700b3320dc0887bfcea111e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20211124/f8c472a6caf66827f31b38ea51d66f59.jpg

Good job! On Saturday in Clark County I missed a doe probably that size at only 100 yards. Easy broadside shot, she was standing still, rifle was my super accurate Remington 700 6.5 Creedmoor that does 1" at 150. No excuses, I got excited and jerked the trigger shooting under her. Did manage to take a monster buck on Monday so I guess the blind squirrel can find the nut if he keeps trying.

Fine, real fine shot, and very nice doe. Glad for the success, the meat and the memories that hunt produced for you, Sam. Our Firearms season starts on Monday, and I am ready to go afield this year after missing out last year due to an injury.
