When was the Ideal, Middleton Conn stamping discontinued?

IIRC it was in the early 60's.

I’m not sure there was a real “stop date”. It seems to have faded away like an old soldier. Lyman certainly saw the value of the Ideal name and used it for a long time after they bought it, and why not? You ought to go with your strengths wherever possible! ;)

I see, Thanks. Last gun show here I bought a round ball mold in the old orange box that hadn't ever been used.

When I started seriously chasing moulds suitable for 32-40 back in the Nineties, it was not that unusual to see a lot of NOS Ideal moulds in their new looking original boxes. In the intervening three decades I’m seeing fewer and fewer like that and the boxes are getting more shabby. Occasionally you still get lucky though.

No kidding, I got a CVA .58 rifle last fall and I wanted an iron .562 mold. There is was on the table, $30 later it was in my pocket.
