I picked up a couple .22 revolver cylinders in with some other stuff, and don't know what they fit. They are very close to a Heritage Rough Rider, but the front bearing surface is a little short and too wide to fit. They don't fit a Ruger as the cylinder pin hole is too small.

Those were the only two I have to test. Any ideas? The OAL of the cylinders is 1.618".

Back in the 70s there was a lot of Colt SSA in .22LR/.22Mag floating around, and a bunch of cheap knock off foreign ones.
I had a F.I.E. one myself in .22LR.

If a .22 SSA came with both, I can see the 2nd cylinder getting loose and ending up in a junk box.
Without a frame from different makers to try it in, I don't see how you'll ever nail which gun yours will fit.

Thanks for the photos. The index star looks smaller on those. The other interesting thing is the almost complete lack of markings on these. Here's a photo of the only markings, on the LR cylinder.

I suspect that the magnum cylinder has been modified, or at least cleaned up. It looks machined on the breech end, and slightly larger in diameter. Here are some measurements:

Cylinder OAL: 1.618"
Cylinder body length: 1.450" (mag cylinder 1.440")
Bearing surface length: .078" (mag cylinder .076")
Bearing surface diameter: .430" (mag cylinder: .500")
Cylinder diameter: 1.400" (mag cylinder 1.430")
Cylinder pin hole: .220"
Index star diameter: .565"

These might be junk, or they might be worth hanging on to. I'm just curious. Thanks!

Years ago I was offered a colt 22 with 2 cylinders , when I said I would buy it the less then man of his word then wanted me to trade or sell it for him , I picked it up after work on way to show , the magnum cylinder would not fit right , a wise man at the show suggested I fit the cylinder and keep it as he said they shot better then the ruger single six .

I did end up fitting the cylinder and it did indeed shoot better then any ruger single six I have owned , but I kept my word and found a buyer for it , he got his money , I did not keep the pistol or a penny of what he wanted for it .

I believe the original store had a pair of colts and with no numbers they got mixed there . It always amazes me at the number of rifles being offered for sale with no bolt or magazine , good luck with identifying them .
